What is a taster day?

Please contact TLC by telephone to arrange a visit to see The Learning Centre in operation.  During your visit you will be meet members of the TLC Management team and see our group sessions in progress.  You will be shown around the premises, introduced to the staff team on duty and you can discuss any queries you may have.  If you are interested you can then book mutually convenient 'Taster Days' for the student.

A 'Taster Day' is an opportunity for a prospective student to experience a range of activities free of charge at TLC.  This allows students to experience preferred activities, which may be timetabled on different days.  TLC offers two 'Taster Day' experiences per student. All taster days are free of charge.

What happens next?

Following attendance of the student on Taster Days if you would still like your son/daughter/resident to attend TLC permanently you would then need to make contact with Social Service and your appropriate Care Manager to request the necessary funding to cover the cost of a placement at TLC and support your application for a placement.  Placements cannot commence until funding is in place. The Care Management Team at your local authority will then be able to guide you through the necessary paperwork and application for funding process.

Once the funding is in place you will need to contact The Learning Centre Management to agree a mutually convenient start date and preferred timetable.  This will be confirmed in writing and a six week induction period will commence after which the placement will be confirmed in writing upon satisfactory completion.
